The curtain of the holidays is almost down, the Christmas decorations will be put in the attic and the lights will go out in the neighborhoods. But in some homes, somewhere in a corner, there is a plant that will continue to remind us of the grandeur of the holidays for some time to come.

The reason for the Alexandrine of course, a misunderstood plant that most of the time unjustly makes its way to the trash can. So if you are among those who still have a living Alexandrine in your space here are the basic instructions to see it bloom next Christmas.

From now until March we water only when the soil surface dries out and drain well. We notice if our plant has started to put out new leaves at the top and at the same time if it has started to swell eyes at the base of the shoots.

In this phase we reduce watering in order to prepare the plant for a deep pruning, around the end of April, beginning of May. We prune deeply about 10 cm from the surface of the pot, leaving some green tassels so that the plant is not too shocked.

At the same time and as soon as the new growth becomes more obvious, transplant into a larger - not huge - pot.
